Born in London, Ontario, Albert Templar (1897 – 1992) was a painter and printmaker. He studied under David Wilkie at the Beal Technical School in London, Ontario (1915), and under Charles Curren, Francis Jones and Ivan Olinsky at the National Academy of Design in New York City (1919-1923). Working in oil, watercolour, and pencil, his subjects include landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and buildings. Templar worked for many years as a commercial artist at the Wright Lithography Company in London and taught at Beal Technical School (1928-1931). He was a member of the Western Art League, and exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Several of his works are in the collection of Museum London.
